Observable Signatures of the Ejection Speed of Interstellar Objects from their Birth Systems

Amir Siraj, Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. October 5, 2020.

Siraj and Loeb forecast interstellar-object velocity and direction distributions from conventional stellar ejection. Their estimates distinguish 12-object velocity and 180-object angular tests of two ejection models from a separate 12-object anisotropy test. Density, size, sampling and detection assumptions remain uncertain. White-dwarf, outer-cloud and interstellar-medium alternatives are retained. Discovery forecasts and an artifact conjecture are not observations. Manuscript comments and work-level grant support do not establish government access.

Detecting Interstellar Objects Through Stellar Occultations

Amir Siraj, Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. January 8, 2020.

Siraj and Loeb propose stellar occultations as a way to find conventional interstellar objects. An idealized all-sky forecast of about one annual event depends on population, size, noise and observing assumptions. Bound Kuiper-belt and Oort-cloud populations are ordinary alternatives, with overlapping timescales. Metadata, citation, figure, axis and model discrepancies remain unresolved. This supplied preprint reports forecasts rather than detections; work-level grant support does not establish government access.

Identifying Interstellar Objects Trapped in the Solar System through Their Orbital Parameters

Amir Siraj, Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. February 4, 2019.

Siraj and Loeb model captured interstellar minor-body orbits using inherited density, population and size assumptions. Eight catalogue objects are possible candidates, not confirmed interstellar origins or extraterrestrial artifacts. Native Oort-cloud bodies are an explicit confound. Model convergence and forecasts do not supply independent observations. Native table, selection and population-normalization qualifications remain unresolved; detection bias and original calculation gaps are preserved. Manuscript assistance and work-level funding do not establish government tasking or custody.

Turning up the heat on `Oumuamua

John C. Forbes, Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. January 2, 2019.

Forbes and Loeb forecast near-Sun interstellar-body encounters and propose spectroscopy. Encounter rates and candidate probabilities depend on uncertain density, orientation, population and detection assumptions. Listed probabilities do not confirm individual origins. Ordinary cometary explanations, bound-orbit caveats and an ISON non-detection remain explicit. Parameter and catalogue-filter discrepancies are unresolved. Forbes’s fellowship is distinct from work-level grant support; neither establishes government access.

Comment on "Discovery and Preliminary Characterization of a Third Interstellar Object: 3I/ATLAS" [arXiv:2507.02757]

Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. July 9, 2025.

Loeb models a population mass budget for 3I/ATLAS and offers ordinary cometary-core or rarer-population alternatives. Technological design is conditional speculation; albedo, size, selection and reservoir assumptions remain explicit, with no artificial-origin detection or independent model validation.

Complete supplied three-page v2 manuscript; model and date gaps retained

Probing Extrasolar Planetary Systems with Interstellar Meteors

Amir Siraj, Abraham Loeb. arxiv.org. June 7, 2019.

Siraj and Loeb combine reported detections and non-detection limits to propose meteor trajectory, spectroscopy and sample tests. The administrator flags substantial text overlap with their earlier meteor paper; IM1 and Oumuamua are reused. The allowed slope range is not a demonstrated confidence interval. Camera coverage, parent-star association, isotopes and sample recovery are forecasts, rather than achieved results. Ordinary alternatives and source discrepancies remain.
