Identifying Interstellar Objects Trapped in the Solar System through Their Orbital Parameters
Siraj and Loeb model captured interstellar minor-body orbits using inherited density, population and size assumptions. Eight catalogue objects are possible candidates, not confirmed interstellar origins or extraterrestrial artifacts. Native Oort-cloud bodies are an explicit confound. Model convergence and forecasts do not supply independent observations. Native table, selection and population-normalization qualifications remain unresolved; detection bias and original calculation gaps are preserved. Manuscript assistance and work-level funding do not establish government tasking or custody.
Read the paper at arxiv.orgWhat we checked
A specialist actually read all 23,317 normalized characters and viewed all six native layouts of arXiv:1811.09632v5, including equations 1–11, two numbered figures, all eight Table 1 rows, support and 31 references. Root reviewed the entire frozen analytical report/evidence and verified its inventory; root primary-body reading is false. Metadata describes five pages and four figures, while the received file has six pages and two numbered figures. Revision/margin date is 4 February 2019; the native draft header says 5 February. Journal DOI is related metadata, not a final-version reading receipt.

How we check sources
Not checked yet
- The eight table entries are possible candidates, not measured interstellar origins. Ordinary Oort-cloud objects may share velocities. Inherited abundance, size and albedo assumptions, selection definitions and detection bias limit the population forecasts; no observed extraterrestrial artifact or completed census is reported.
- The 2018 TL6 row contains an unresolved semimajor-axis/selection and orbital-column inconsistency. Later candidate filters and earlier background definitions differ. No correction from an external catalogue is substituted; original orbit fits and uncertainty records were not received.
- A specialist checked one arithmetic substitution from the printed equations and found a count-ratio discrepancy with nearby prose. Unit-normalized distributions and population-scaled counts require distinct interpretation. This is not simulation replication, a corrected threshold or numerical validation of the model.
- One hundred thousand test particles, captured subsets and same-model convergence checks are simulated outcomes. Finite-endpoint binding, Jupiter-only geometry and inherited populations do not demonstrate permanent capture or independent observations. Instrument forecasts are dated, conditional and unaudited against current survey performance.
- Final journal and other versions, cited originals, MPC orbit records, model code, reviewer correspondence and exhaustive glyph assurance remain gaps. Work-level Breakthrough Prize support lacks a named recipient, grant identifier, amount, dates or Starshot earmark. Named manuscript help is scholarly attribution, not evidence of covert access.
