Performance of BioFire array or QuickVue influenza A + B test versus a validation qPCR assay for detection of influenza A during a volunteer A/California/2009/H1N1 challenge study
The authors compare BioFire and QuickVue tests with a study-specific qPCR comparator in selected influenza-challenge samples. Repeated matched swabs come from143 volunteers, and the two comparisons use different specimen sets. A linked correction changes the rapid-test table denominator from351 to299. These results do not establish performance in community infections, current product versions or UAP research.

Read32,968 main XML characters in five complete returns,24 references and44 physical cells with five blanks. Read the3,024-character correction and21 corrected-table cells with five blanks. Viewed two Venn figures and one supplemental gel page. Preserved Nolan’s joint design role, native no-competing-interest declaration, BARDA/NIH funding and Vaxart sample provision. The received main still carries the old table label despite the notice’s corrected-article statement.

How we check sources
Not checked yet
- Both supplementary workbooks, original main/correction layouts, clipped raster-border glyphs, raw assay/clinical records, repositories and code remain unread or unreceived. A gel band alone does not establish sequence identity or uncropped provenance. No raw patient records, source formulas or scientific code were collected or executed.
- 351 BioFire and299 rapid-test comparisons are repeated matched-swab pairs rather than independent participants. Separate sets, prevalence, timing and comparator assumptions limit interpretation. qPCR accuracy was assumed; it is not independently established for every sample. The printed sensitivity confidence interval ends at79.5% in the abstract and79.4% elsewhere. Community generalization and predictive values are not inferred.
- The correction repairs a typesetting denominator while retaining the individual counts; it does not reproduce or validate the whole study. Nolan is not the stated primary operator, analyst or manuscript writer. Funding/affiliation does not establish secret-programme access or UAP evidence. No present-day clinical advice or product recommendation follows.
