ACE2 localizes to the respiratory cilia and is not increased by ACE inhibitors or ARBs

The authors localize ACE2 staining to respiratory cilia and compare receptor expression across medication groups. Small subgroups, treatment indication, age imbalance and retrospective confounding qualify the comparisons. Negative or nonsignificant results do not establish equivalence, infection protection or clinical benefit. The study reports localization and expression rather than a treatment trial.

What we checked

Read69,690 XML characters in nine complete returns,49 references,219 physical table cells including four blanks and74 dash-like entries, and seven meaningful JPEGs. Read all three pages of each selected supplement,6,040 extracted characters in two returns and60 ordinal staining-grade cells. The medication cohort contains84 donors, including five ACE-inhibitor users at Stanford. Nolan’s stated roles are joint supervision and manuscript preparation. The website uses an abbreviated citation; all39 exact names remain in the private record and linked article.

Complete supplied main, figures and two supplements; peer review unreviewed

How we check sources

Not checked yet

  • The seven-page peer-review file, original main layout, raw data, code and every fine image glyph remain unreviewed. Data and code access statements are not receipt or execution. The earlier preprint remains a related version, not a separately reviewed study.
  • Medication groups differ in hypertension indication and some age distributions. Technical cells, fields and overlapping subgroups reuse donors. Small ACE-inhibitor and null comparisons do not establish causal protection, equivalence or clinical infection outcomes.
  • Late autopsy tissue does not reconstruct early viral entry. The airway sketch is a proposed model. Historical medication statements are source context, not current clinical advice. Funding and author roles do not establish a secret programme, UAP cohort or access to government materials.
