Destruction of molecular hydrogen ice and Implications for 1I/2017 U1 (`Oumuamua)
Hoang and Loeb model destruction and formation of pure hydrogen ice under assumed radiation, material and cloud conditions. They challenge one proposed explanation of Oumuamua while retaining environmental exceptions; no hydrogen object is observed and no artificial origin is established.
Read the paper at arxiv.orgWhat we checked
A specialist read all eight text pages and native layouts: 29,198 Unicode page characters, two figures, 34 equations and 38 references. Root reviewed the analytical packet and verified its files. Version 3 is dated 12 August 2020; the native draft says 13 August. An earlier partial formatter preview overlaps this reading and adds no separate credit.
Complete supplied eight-page manuscript; conditional hydrogen-ice model
How we check sources
Not checked yet
- Pure hydrogen, geometry, radiation, material parameters and cloud conditions are assumptions. Lower-density and alternative formation cases qualify categorical conclusions. Several equation scalings, signs and figure normalizations disagree internally; these comparisons remain unresolved. No new hydrogen-object observation, replication or artificial-origin finding.
- Original measurements, code, solver, earlier and journal versions, correspondence and award records remain unreviewed. Hoang lists Korea-government-funded NRF award 2019R1A2C1087045; Loeb lists partial Breakthrough Prize Foundation support without an identifier. Acknowledgments do not establish a government approach or secret tasking.
