Will the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Detect Extra-Solar Planetesimals Entering the Solar System?
Moro-Martín, Turner and Loeb model ordinary interstellar planetesimals using uncertain stellar populations, ejection, size distributions and albedo. Their historical 2009 forecast for inactive objects gives a conditional lifetime expectation of order 0.0001–0.01, described as about a 0.01%–1% chance of one detection. A larger narrow-size scenario is explicitly unsupported by cited constraints. Figures and tables are theoretical scenarios. Survey selection, activity, disruption and survival limit the forecast. No new detection, artificiality or experimental replication is established.

Four disjoint specialist scopes covered all 29 received arXiv:0908.3948v2 pages, revised 14 September 2009: 58,185 extracted characters and 29 actual whole native views. The review included three model figures, two tables, appendices, funding acknowledgements and references. Root reviewed complete frozen analytical packets and hashes, and directly viewed native scientific pages 15 and 18 only. Root did not read the entire primary scientific body or view every layout. The related journal rendition, cited-original bodies, data/code and independent mathematical or experimental validation remain unreviewed.

How we check sources
Not checked yet
- This is a historical theoretical forecast of conventional planetesimals, not a new detection, artificial object, replicated experiment or current observing census. Telescope limits and the nondetection statement belong to the 2009 paper.
- All 29 received text/native pages were covered, but literal notation remains qualified: equation 4 has a negative distance exponent; page 18 bulk-density units differ from figure labels; excluded slope cases appear in the parameter grid; an appendix factor and table range ordering remain unresolved. No silent repair or implementation-error conclusion was made.
- Dust incidence, host fractions, ejection, size distributions, albedo, activity and survival are distinct assumptions. Cited populations can overlap. Figures and tables show parameter scenarios, not independently observed objects or replicated trials; curves were not digitized or calculations reproduced.
- Journal DOI 10.1088/0004-637X/704/1/733 is bibliographic metadata. Journal-version equivalence, cited original surveys/models, data/code, current results and exhaustive tiny-glyph fidelity were not certified. References were read as entries, not original bodies.
- Named fellowships, grant 40412, hospitality and WPI/MEXT support are authored acknowledgements, not independently verified awards, secret invitations, agency tasking, access or custody. Recipient and sponsor scope is preserved in private notes.
